gCADPlus installs in about 50 Mb of disk space and makes very little demand on computer resources. Any modern computer capable of running Windows should be suitable although the more main memory installed, the better. We have run gCADPlus successfully on Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 computers.
It is also possible run gCADPlus on Mac computers. We recommend installing CrossOver so gCADPlus can run on the Mac. CrossOver and gCADPlus are free to try. Here are some links giving more information about using gCADPlus on Macs.
Tip: If you wish to run a commercial landscape design business using gCADPlus as your design tool, we recommend investing in a solid state hard disk for your computer. These disks give a huge boost to computer speed.
We have had the first report of problems using gCADPlus on very high resolution screens. Monitors and computer screens with resolution up to 1920 x 1080 are fine, but very high-DPI devices with 4K resolutions typically 3840 x 2360 are increasingly becoming available. gCADPlus does not play well under those conditions - the toolbars are tiny and overlap one another. This is not an issue that will be resolved quickly. It requires a rewrite of gCADPlus code.
